Power steering reservoir boiling out fluid
I have a 2001 accord that was involved in a accident. The power steering reservoir was broken in the accident and was emptied of fluid. I bought a new reservoir and filled it to the full level. I started the car and began turning the wheels from one extreme to the other to get the air out of the system and it had pushed almost all the fluid out of the top of the reservoir. Today I jacked the front wheels off the ground and tried it again only this time with some help. When the wheels are turned you can hear the fluid gurgling and see waves inside the reservoir and it again pushed the fluid out of the top of the reservoir. Does anyone have an idea of what is causing this to happen?
I just watched a video where the o ring was bad in the suction side of the pump. This was allowing air to be sucked into the pump and ending up in the reservoir thus pushing the fluid out the top of the reservoir. Looked exactly like the problem I am having. Says honda made an updated o ring that is orange in color as a replacement. Going to get one of them today and see if this solves my problem.
