built b16a2 vs Subaru WRX?
My 99 civic SI got total from accident. I'm either going to swap my motor into another civic and build the head or get a 2006 Subaru WRX. My reasons for getting WRX. WRX looks more aggressive, AWD, and is torquey. Only downfall is they are around $10,000 with high mileage and they aren't that fast. Quarter mile is only 14.4 seconds. Plus i don't know anything about Subarus. Second route is to swap my motor into another EK then build the head by myself. Cost of shell, labor cost to swap, and aftermarket parts for head with bolt ons comes out to approximately $5,500-7,000.
hmm subaru, lets see here...
easily blown headgaskets....check
chronic spun rod bearings....check
trannys that like to break....check
your money is best spend elsewhere imo.

its a shame too, with the amount of fishing and other outdoor activities i do a suby would be the perfect car i just dont find them reliable enough. one of my friends has a wrx, built motor, 6spd swap etc. 422awhp. it ripped the rear upper motor mount bracket off the firewall. he had to take the dash out and drill the remaining spot welds out and bolt in a new bracket. imagine if hondas ripped out motor mount brackets at 422whp. i know thats an extreme example but still...

I feel like if you are comparing a 10k wrx you would need to compare it to a 10k civic also so you would be looking at fg/fa k series civic. I personally think you are getting way more car for your money on a newer civic.
