1997 Accord SE 4 cyl. 242k miles
I see oil dripping from the solenoid. It looks like it coming from one of the 3 mount screws on the top. Looks like I can just remove the top portion, and replace a gasket, without having to remove the whole unit from the engine ?? Should be simple, if that's where it's leaking, right ??

I'm not sure what part I need for replacement though, such as correct name and part # and if a parts store is likely to have it, or dealer only ?

Are little parts going to go flying when I open it, or any "gotchas" I need to watch for ?

First off. Clean that so you can see exactly where the leak(s) are.

 

What's the best way to clean ?

I looked at it pretty closely while running, and with a mirror on the backside, and 99 % sure it's leaking around that bolt. I could see oil oozing out both sides of the flange.

 

Parts washer brush with simple green.

 

I bought the solenoid gasket online for $4, installed in about 15 minutes, and no leak for 3 days !!
