not looking to buy just yet, but i just want to get a feel for about how much i will be paying for an h23 with 5 spd tranny. something with decent miles that wasn't beat on too bad.

I think one with like 150K miles on it can be picked up for $500-$600 for the full swap.

 

damn that's a lot of miles. but i guess it really wouldn't matter if i'm replacing the internals would it? do you think i could still boost the motor on stock internals for a while until i get money for the buildup, or do you think that would be too risky with that many miles?
