Help please w/ minor problems: cracked headlight and broken trunk/gas release
Hi.. Long time lurker, first time car owner. I'm going to apologize in advance if I misname something or screw up in general
I recently bought a used 1992 Accord LX (Canadian trim) and I've been fixing up the minor problems with it. I just spent $1K CDN to get the 140KM maintenance done (timing belt, seals, water pump and a new cover as the old one was destroyed by an oil leak + pulley), so she's running nicely right now. I'm concentrating on fixing any other problems before I do any sort of modding to it (if I ever mod it at all). I have bought the Haynes repair manual, so I've tried to find answers to these questions first (it has come in handy for other repairs though).
The biggest problem I have at the moment I think is a cracked headlight on the passenger side. There's a small (maybe 1/4 cm) diameter circular crack in the headlight, which looks like it was chipped from a much larger repair patch (about 2 cm). I can see shards of glass inside the headlight, and it looks dirtier in the headlight assembly than on the driver's side. You can tell too when driving by the brightness of the lights.
So, my first question is this: Is there any sort of fill/repair material I can use to repair it? Or, can I get a replacement headlight glass somewhere or do I have to replace the entire assembly? One employee at Canadian tire said they would have to be ordered from the dealer and would be $$$. I've checked the few online stores here in my general area and I haven't found a headlight assembly yet.
The second problem I have is largely inconvenience only, but I'd like to repair it sometime. The problem is that the release for the trunk and the gas cap cover is broken. I.e. the releases are fully up, and it feels like there's tons of slack in the line or maybe they're broken when I push down on them. I took off the release cover and I tried to follow the lines, but it looks like it goes under the carpet and stuff. Do I have to rip out the carpet and crap to fix this???
Thanks for any help anyone can give... Again these are pretty much minor problems but I'd like to get them done sometime.

so it's $203 ffrom these guys but some chick backed up into my car and crushed my right side headlight last spring. body shop replaced it with all honda parts and labor included it only cost $240. not too expensive IMO. the only thing is that side is brighter and shinier. kinda bothers me but not enough to fix it right now
If BOTH release aren't working it sounds like it is a problem with the release handles next to your seat as they are 2 separate cables. If not and you have to replace the cables the gas door cable isn't too bad but once the trunk release gets to the trunk lid it gets a bit hrder to get at. They both run just inside the outer edge of the carpet and up over the left rear fenderwell. I would get an electricians fish tape and attach it to the handle end of each cable and then pull the cable through from the trunk end ( after removing the door sill plates, etc. ) . When you get it pulled through to the trunk remove the old cable and attach the new to the fish tape and pull it back throught the other way. The "trunk" end of the cables is a bit larger and would be hard to pull through with out taking out more of the interior. The fish tape method worked pretty good for me on my '91 EX, if you can't borrow a fish tape try some 12 or 14 Gage multi strand electrical wire, it is flexible enough and strong enopugh to do the job. In fact it may even work better.
