Default Power Steering Pump Part #

This part number PT0 164242N is on a sticker on top of my power steering pump but I can't find the part # anywhere online. Is it a Honda part? I'm thinking of putting regular Prestone p.s. fluid with stop-leak in it. I own a '90 Accord. It's a mess. Power steering foams up. It leaks I believe from the p.s. gearbox when it's cold. Rack & pinion boots are tore off. Needs a complete front end overhaul. If it's not a Honda p.s. pump then I'm gonna get the regular Prestone fluid. I'm not gonna fix this thing. If I were better off financially I would. I'm in Texas so this cold aint gonna last long. When it's not cold the p.s. fluid loss slows way down. Thanks

It's only about $20 for a power steering pump oring kit from any parts store. It only takes about 45 minutes to take it apart and swap out all the old orings with new orings. Keep in mind the pulley bolt is reverse threaded so you will be going clockwise to remove it.

That part number is probably a reman.

If that part number is a remanufactured p.s. pump you think it'd be ok to put regular prestone fluid w/stop leak in it? I think I'm gonna. This 90 Honda is on it's last leg anyways.

It practically costs nothing to buy Honda OEM power steering fluid. Just buy the real fluid from the dealer. It's not going to break the bank.

I take it then they must use the same factory seals in the rebuilt pump that requires Honda OEM fluid.
