Default Clicking noise when brake pedal pressed

Have a 94 Accord LX automatic with a problem that started yesterday. With the car cranked up and still in park, when the brake pedal is pressed (to release the parking brake and put in gear), a singular click sound is heard under the console. The same singular click sound is heard even if the parking brake had not been used. The singular click sound is not heard at any other time.

The brake fluid level is fine & the brakes work fine. Concerned about the click sound becoming a safety issue of some sort. Any ideas what it is and a solution for it?

It's the solenoid that releases the shifter. Completely normal.

Thanks for a quick reply, however, I don't understand how that could be. Had the car for nine years and it has never made that sound before.

You probably never noticed it.
