Icon5 Civic 2013 oil change

I have Honda Civic sedan 2013. I got engine oil changed on Firestone, they stick a sticker saying next schedule oil change. according to that sticker I need to change the oil after 5000 miles. however my cars inbuilt system is telling engine life as 30%. I generally change oil when I inbuilt system tells oil life as 10%. now I'm confused...

Do I need to follow Firestones recommendation or engine life indicator?

I use full synthetic oil.

5000 miles is fine for fully synthetic. I go as high as 10k at times. Honda oil is not fully synthetic so yeah it's going to say change it at 3k.

Firestone didn't make the car. It's fine following the MM.

?? The MID doesn't work the way you think. It calculates oil life based on driving habits and environment. It does the calculations based on the type of oil that Honda uses/recommends at the time the car was made. It doesn't care if the oil is actually synthetic or not.

The MID usually won't turn on at 3K miles unless you have been beating the **** out of the car. The MID in our old 06 Si would turn on around 6K of my driving...or 7.5k miles of my GF driving. We replaced that car with an Acura Sportwagon. I did the first oil change via the MID at 9200 miles (15% life still left!!!!). Now with winter driving, the MID will turn on probably at like 7500 miles.

My point is that the MID is variable. Not "3K miles".

I'd follow the dashboard display for sure. BUT...check or have someone check your oil level.

Honda does have full synthetic oil in 0W-20; which is the recommended oil viscosity for the 2013.
