Default serious trans help needed

ok lets start with the fact that i know just about nothing about hondas as i have owned rx7's ok so here is my question i have a 97 lx with a d16y7 and the transmission is done according to the trans shop that its at and they want almost 1700 bucks to replace it 800 of which is for a used trans so my question is what transmissions are compatible with the engine so that all that needs to be done is just bolt it up and i can put on down the road

Manual trans? Any '92 - '00 Civic manual trans except Si will bolt up and work.

That will work fine, but it's way more than I'd spend. You can usually find these things for $150 or less. from someone parting out a Civic on Craigslist.

necessity is the mother of all inventions... i didnt have time to search the forum or locally to find one and its still cheaper then the 800 bucks that the transmission shop wanted to charge me

Using an EX/Si trans is the single best thing you can do for a D-series.
