Hello, I'm new to the forums and also new to Integras; pretty much cars in general. This car is my first car and I've been driving it everyday for 1 month now, I've put exactly 3,504 KM on it (~2800 miles) since then. I've fallen in love with it and plan on doing some major modifications to it (LS Vtec etc.) in the not so distant future.
Since I've had this car I have noticed that 94-97 Integras pretty much all have that nasty water leak in the trunk. But I've come across other problems, when I'm doing a hill start (light or what not) on some occasions the car pulls to the right, sort of like the right wheel is slipping? I know I have a brake line leak but could that be the case? Also, there is a somewhat loud squeel originating from the engine when I depress the throttle, it is apparent when I'm reving the engine as well, mind you its only there for half a second and its gone. There have been instances where I've started the car and a loud squeel noise (similar to the one in the first half second the throttle is depressed) occurs, only this time it goes on for a good amount of time probably 15-20 seconds. Could this be one of the belts?
Are these fixes I could do myself? If not how much would it be to fix these things? (I've asked my dad but he's confusing.)
I'm sorry for being a super noob. I have read other posts on these forums having topics similar to this one but I didn't really find the answer I wanted.
If I posted this in the wrong category please excuse me, haha.
Typically the squeal you describe is one of the accessory belts....to the AC or Alternator. Mine's much older so I don't know which are combined on yours, but that's typically where that noise is from. You can get belt cleaner to find out which one, but inspect and replace when necessary.
There are some people here that really know a heck of a lot about these cars, but don't get in a hurry and don't assume that anyone is correct. Verify everything. Do as much searching here as you can stand, and also search U-tube. You can learn a lot here.
Pulling one way, may just be torque steer, or may not be. That's front wheel drive. I've got a bit under some circumstances. An LSD trans cures that, pretty much.
