Honda Element Limp mode help please
Hello all, we have a 04 Hond Element 134k, I had to replace Starter, 40 days ago, and a week after we had a cup of water removed from fuel tank. 3 weeks later it had been running perfect entire time. and no after it drives for over 1 hour it goes into limp mode. Wont rev past 2000 rpms. No codes or engine lights thrown. Dealer reset ecm or put it into relearn mode and it still does it. Dealer is stumped. So are we. If driven Under 65 or under an hour it doesn't do it. Once you hit an hour or so of over 65 and then slow down it will go into it unless turned off for a while, then it may take another hour or more to go back into it. Really stumped, any ideas??

You may have low fuel pressure – Do you still have the normal air rush when you open the filler cap.
Also you need to check for ODB code when the fault is present and the engine running in limp mode.

There is No codes, No check engine light, Dealer had computer plugged in for several hours while running it, and no codes were recorded, they did say the fuel pump was being shutting down or limited by the ecu. it seems to happen mainly when really hot (engine temp is in the middle) after running over an hour.
Your car is not in "limp mode" without a check engine light present. You could be experiencing hesitation because your fuel is still contaminated with water. Or your fuel pressure is low. Is your check engine light actually working? I.e is the bulb burnt out? Do you know how your gas was contaminated with water? Do you know if all the water was removed? There are additives you can add to your tank to help remove water chemically (Google HEET). You could also drain your tank and start with fresh gas.
If your fuel is not contaminated, check you fuel pressure.
I would personally plug in an obd2 scanner yourself and see what your ecu state is. Look for error codes and pending codes. You can rent a scanner from many auto stores, or buy one.

My understanding is if it was a faulty pump it either works or it doesn't. not one of these "it works sometimes" things.
Thoughts?
