hate to give up on my car..
good day guys am looking to do something with my car (2002 honda accord V6) that i only saw in the 2006-07 model and that is to swap for a manual gearbox... if it can be done which gearbox out of which honda brand car that i can use the gearbox to swap in my car... am having a slipping and jerking in my car every two to three month maybe or anytime i lay my foot on the gas it reminds me it isn't as young as she use to be... can and acura or honda model gearbox be used for this tranny swap...
You will have a BIG job ahead of you to swap transmissions if you currently have a Automatic. It would be much easier to just have your current one serviced, or possibly rebuilt.
If yours is an automatic, you do not have the entire clutch pedal assembly, although the mounting points are more than likely there. If I'm not mistaken, your on board computer will need to be replaced, or re-chipped for manual, and several engine changes, sensors also added. Cost would be prohibitive, unless you have 3-4 thousand to put into it. Or can do it your self, or with some help.
If you had to do it, you more than likely would be best off, if you can get a manual transmission, and clutch pedal assembly, and wiring harness from the same model year, with the same engine. (V6) if not that, at least that generation of Accords, 6th Gen, depending on build date 1997-2002, or 2002-2005 , with the same engine (V6).
As with many things, it would be cheaper, and safer to get another Accord with the transmission you want. Meanwhile, get that one serviced, and see if you can live with her alittle longer!
