RJ's for sale post got me thinking. I'm in the market for a set of light 15's. I'll be using the 15's only for Solo-I events (since I desperately need more gearing in two key sections of Bremerton Raceway) and I'm curious about which is the proper lugnut to use.
The two wheel options I'm currently considering are the Kosei K-1, and something by Rota. Will my factory open-ended lugnuts be ok, or will I need something fancy like those huge things posted in the other lugnut thread? After seeing two wheels almost fall off a friends car at a track day this summer (due to improper lugnuts from Tirerack), I'd like to go the safe route.

There are two basic types of lug seat on wheels... Tapered and ball type.
In my experience with honda's, the aftermarket wheels are taper type and the OEM wheels are ball type. Both Rota and Kosei are taper type.
The lugs you use should match the seat type.
As far as your decision on which wheel to purchase.... that depends on the tire size you would like to run. If a 205/50-15 is as wide as you would like then either wheel should work very well. However, if you would like the option to run a wider tire (225/45-15) I would say you want to get a 15X7 wheel which the Kosei is (Rota is 6.5" wide).
I have the Rota Attack and like them very much, my only complaint is that the hole for the lug is quite tight, I had to find a thin wall socket to use on my aftermarket 13/16" lugnuts and even that is still VERY tight.
HTH!

Good point about the paint. He has those SSR Comp wheels. The nuts Tirerack sent were incorrect. They were really good about it and took care of his two destroyed wheels.
Thanks for all the input. I guess it's either tapered or round. I wasn't sure if I needed to know a specific "degree of taper" or something.

PS who do I need to talk to about official advertising on this site, anyone know?
Good point about the paint; maybe that’s why one of my Kossi K1's loosened up when I put two wheels off at the track. My previous theory was that maybe since I had lost my Hub rings that this could have contributed to the loosening. Or maybe it was a combination of these factors. I am now super cautious and re-torque them after ever session and often. Luckily I felt a vibration at the top speed and began to slow down to diagnose, after about a lap I pulled in the pits to check thinking maybe tire was going flat and three of the four lugs were loose.
