Default Is taking off with a lightweight flywheel like taking off in 2nd gear?

I have a 2003 civic 5 speed. I may need a new clutch at some point just because it has 109k on it. While replacing it i need to get the flywheel resurfaced or replaced so why not get a lighter one for better performance. I see one thats not super light i want to say its 11.9 lbs which i heard is good for daily driving.

My question is if i were to get that would taking off from a stop be like taking off in 2nd gear (alittle more difficult but not really hard at all if you control the clutch and gas)? Or would i have to really rev it to take off?

My car is stock internally.

Well i heard with a lighter flywheel your going to have to rev alittle more and work the clutch more like your would if you werent taking off in 1st gear.

^^^ What he said. I remember reading threads years ago from people saying take off from first gear is trickier than with a stock flywheel. Pure BS. I've been driving my cars with a lightweight flywheel for a long time through heavy traffic and up steep inclines from a dead stop and it's no harder than a stock flywheel.

yeah, I have a 7.5lb flywheel and after I built my engine and got the car running again, it was really anti climactic. I thought it was gonna be a bear to get goin.

from what i understand, using really heavy pressure plates and unsprung 6 puck discs it becomes tricker to start off, but that's sort of a given no matter what the flywheel weighs.
