Default How/where is my ignition coil

I think my car isnt starting due to my stock ignition coil, im not sure where it is, or how to check it.

I believe it's under your distributor cap. It is more likely that the igniter is bad. Auto parts stores like Auto Zone can test them. Maybe pull a plug wire off of the engine and hold it close to ground while having someone crank the engine. If there is no spark then you know that is the problem.

My Accord:93 Honda Accord EX Edition: 4th Generation
Right rear corner of the valve cover. Just follow the coil wire from the distributor cap.

how much do ignitors and coils run?

thanks for pointing those out, helped me out alot, so what kinda of tools am i gonna need to do this? scale of 1-10 how hard? or should I just take it to any mechanic?

If your just going to replace the coil and/or igniter it is pretty easy. Kinda like changing a valve cover gasket or something on that level. A screwdriver and some sockets from 8mm-14mm should be enough.

It's a little more complicated if he want to be sure what the problem is. It can get expensive just throwing parts at it.

Its rare for one of the external coilpacks to go bad from my experience. I would get a test light and make sure you're getting +12V to the igniter. Have you tried seeing if you even have a spark as suggested earlier? I carry a spare igniter in my toolbox just for occasions like this

In my old VW, I'd always carry a spare alternator for times like this. lol
