EP3 Shifter/boot question
So this one is going to sound really stupid
... I have a 03 EP3. I wanted to use a new shift ****. This nice Skunk2 one I bought. Now I know that isn't compatible with the aftermarket shift so I purchased an EP3 Type R shift boot because it uses a similar type **** with a locknut but as I should have guessed the boot still doesn't sit flush under the locknut and shifter. What else do I need to do? Even though it's slightly different my cousin with an EP3R just pulls it up to the locknut and it seems to magically stay there HAHA. Anything I'm missing? Sorry for the noob question. I really wanna keep this **** because it goes well with the aluminum shifter base bushings I installed.

Here is a good thread with a variety of answers:
Need help changing my shift ****! - Club EP3 Message Board
What I did was use an alcantara boot that has a flat finishing plastic piece, so that it's not attached to the **** (I have the Buddy Club A), but doesn't look like unfinished slop, either.
