Rear sway bar or both? Experiences?
Hey, i have a 96 accord and looking to get some rear sway bars. Ive heard a lot of people with just the rear s/t sway bar, then people with both. If you add both, is the steering neutral like stock almost?
i have a 4 gen 4 door and i have the rear lower tie bar and front upper. i am not sure if the rear upper one will be better/ worse but i can tell you initial turn in is great, but when i approach the limits it just plants the front outside tire and starts to understeer nasty. i am guessing this is kinda normal as the car was never designed to take that kind of punishment.
anything you can do to stiffen up any of the suspension is a great investment. the rear upper STRUT TOWER/TIE bar will make a pretty good improvement maybe the best in just solidifying everything and getting predictable handling (talking rear suspension only right now). to get rid of the huge understeer dialed into the stock suspension you need to grab a rear SWAY bar from suspension techniques (they're damn good, it's a huge sway bar, and they're relatively cheap). it actually goes a little beyond neutral into oversteer depending on your spring and damping rates. forget about the front sway bar as it'll pacify the handling benefits of the rear sway bar.
