So I just bought this car & would like to take care of these rust spots before they spread. One is right rear quarter panel & the other on driver side main body. Just got quoted 500 at the shop which seems high but heres my real question.. Does the metal need to be cut out & fabricated on that left side, rust doesn't look to have gone all the way through. Right side for sure, as I can see its flaking off but the shop said cut them both out to be safe. Just need some opinions before I drop 5 bills tomorrow. Thanks.
yup 500 for rust repair isn't bad at all.. most shops are 65-75 an hour for repairs not including paint. yours are rusting from the inside out, that's why its bubbling up like that.
Take those stupid edge protectors out from your wheel wells, that's why you have rust where you do.
$500 sounds cheap for that work, at that price I would expect corners to be cut. Anytime you see rust through the surface like that you can usually assume you're only seeing 1/3 of it. The area of work will end up being much larger than the rust you can see.
