02 Accord - Replacing the A-pipe, rusted cat bolts
I want to replace the A-pipe on my 2002 Accord EX 4cyl. The 3 bolts that connect the A-pipe to the cat are badly rusted. Maybe I can get a socket on the nut and snap the bolt.
Is the head of the bolt welded to the cat flange?
What's the best way to get the bolts out without a torch?
Thanks.

The studs are pressed in, although with that amount of rust they are probably rest welded to the cat.
Use Kroil or another deep rust penatrent allow to soak for 15mins at least, overnight for better performance. A small MAP torch should be able to induce enough heat, no need for full tank/acetylene torch.

I had to do this to the manifold for my B16. Bolts are pressed in, and rust welded. I used CRC-Freeze off to try and loosen it, (It worked for freeing upthe bolt side) but for the nut side, I had to use a mapp torch to get it fairly red and then using 2 pair of vise grips got it to eventually spin apart.
Thanks for the advice. I used propane with a Bernzomatic TS8000 torch. I heated the nuts until slightly red. 2 of them came off with a wrench. One nut was rounded and I had to use a Craftsman bolt-out.
