You can run whatever you want, what transmission are you running?

Run 22" slicks unless you have a 4.9FD

You want to run the smallest slick possible and to be at the top of 4th at the stripe. I gained 3 tenth on my setup going from 23's to 22's. You won't have traction issues with them at 6-8psi

I have a old pair of m&h 22s which i have been running at 8 psi. Just wanted to run a little taller slick to see if i could get more mph and ground clearance.

If you pick up MPH you most likely will be slower.

How does the mph increasing make the trap slower? I'm shooting for 260+ in the spring. I just bought some 13x8 welds. I havent ordered tires yet. I was thinking of getting the 4.7 fd and running 23's but now I'm not sure.

Higher MPH doesn't always mean faster ET is what I meant

So lower mph times means you get a lower et also?

sometimes if you are spinning a bit you can run a slower et with a higher trap speed. the tire spin actually allows for more rotations of the tire effectively making the track longer allowing you to get more mph.

so what you guys are saying is even with a lower 60 foot time my et is going to suffer from a inch bigger slick. Because i need more hp or a different final drive.

^^^I think hes saying that many times all things equal, more wheelspin = slower ET, but a little more mph.
Generally speaking, the lower the 60, the lower the ET from my experience.

Yes. MPH can be sporadic.

Example: I ran 13.27 @ 105, but then ran 12.84 @106. The difference was I had a 1.98 60' on the 13.2 but a 1.74 60' on the 12.8 run. And it was about 20 degrees cooler. But see how 1mph didn't mean much in almost a .5 second swing?

Bingo!!! I would run 13.2@101-102mph 1.8 60ft with 22x8x13 M/T and 13.3@103mph 2.0 60ft 185/60/13 Hoosier R6 Tires making 185-190whp. Making 200-206whp using 22x8x13 M/T i would run 12.5@106mph 1.7 60ft, the only difference in weight is full exhaust with 13's and no exhaust 12's, also more seat time and full throttle shifting helped me get to the 12.5's. Pretty much better 60ft's, more seat time, more dialing in your setup will benefit alot. As you can se mph didnt change a whole lot from 13.3 to 12.5. the taller tire may help with your whp, powerband, redline, gearing etc.

My 60fts are always 1.7s on 22s x 13s m&h slicks iam in the market for new slicks just wondering if 23s are going to slow me down i want to run faster or the same my fastest pass on my 22s so far was 12.93 at 104 still was dialing in the car when i ran that time though. Wont run again till march so ill see what happens.

Stick with 22's. I was slower on 23's. Unless you're running out of 4th gear before the stripe you're fine.

if your not running out of gear in 4th then keep trying with the 22's. if all else fails then try the 23's but according to your mph you may not be making 235hp and 22's may still be your best bet.

Agreed. I was trapping 104-106 ad my setup made 217 on a dyno dynamics. Granted I made a few changes and did not update the tune and was running mid 11 AFRs so I know I was down on power from the original dyno tune.
How much does your car weigh? 103-105 indicates you're making 200-210 in most cases with the average weight car.

@200-206whp i was running 12.5's @ 106mph with a full weight(not cut up) 96 cx hatch with no exhaust and no back seats and no passenger seat. I've never weighed my car The 11's AFR's was definitely hurting your hp/mph at the track.

That's a healthy 200-206whp. My buddies 208whp LSV was around high 12.8 @ 104. DX hatch w/ little weight reduction. He was on 23" slicks though which I think was hurting him.

When I switched from 23" to 22" slicks I picked up almost .5 and 1mph overnight...with a shitty tune still.

Now I'm @ 240whp and have a spot on tune...hopefully see some low 12's. I was running high 12.7's and low 12.8's @ 106mph with a shitty tune before. Based off the numbers I was probably making hardly over 200whp. My cams also went bad as well.

Ive seen 240whp run high 11's in a eg hatch(not cut up), with no exhaust, no seats, fcs 5gallon fuel cell. Just simple weight reduction, seat time, dialing in setup, and good tuning may get you a high 11. Good luck man!!!

My car is a 90 EF sedan lx with power windows ive weighed it in street form and its 2440 with me in it i haven't weighed it yet with the track set up which is fully gutted just driver seat and on drag wheels i failed to mention the last time i ran the car it was on some old *** 22s that had for about 16 years lol...and i needed a front end alignment. So when i run again in March i should definitely run faster ill try some brand new 22s.
