B18B Crower camshaft profile
Hi all,
I've been in and out of the import game for a long time and never understood how to read camshaft profiles and what they are good for. Well I bought a used B18B head awhile ago and it came with upgrade Crower camshafts and valvetrain. The camshafts have no part number etched on the end so I have no idea what its made for. "CROWER" is casted so my guess is its from Brian Crower, and also have 224" 214deg etched on both camshafts. Any ideas what this profile is good for? NA street/strip turbo nitrous. Any info provided is much appreciated. Thanks

Crower is not the same as Brian Crower. Cams are available form both.
The first pic is the B18B cams from Crower.com

As you can see, they are not the same. Your casting is likely an older Crower cam, not a Brian Crower cam (BC).

Yes I did look at both the charts already and didn't see any specs that matched, so that's why I wasn't sure. I'm sure its an older cam since I bought the head over a decade ago. But as far as the specs of 224" 214deg, do you think these are street/strip NA camshafts?

That would match the Stage 3 Race Crower cam.
Or, it could also be a custom grind crower cam. Custom is only about 50 bucks more.
It's also a little strange that both cams are the same, there looks to be normally a couple of degree variance between intake and exhaust.
Are you sure it's not 224° 214°?

Yes I check numerous times. Both intake and exhaust have 224" 214deg etched...nothing else except CROWER casted and a logo that looks like a "?" in a circle

and they could have told him that as well....at which point degreeing and measuring the cam would be his next choice. seeing as there is no such cam that I can think that would be ground to have so little lift as .224", and 2.24" makes no sense either...im thinking its 224 degrees...

V4li3s: both cams are etched .224" and 214deg
That looks to be like stock lift with a longer duration. It's odd one would want a stock lift though.
Oh well, degreeing the cams to get a profile is about all you can do.

Even custom camshafts from Crower have a job number stamped into the distributor end. You posted no pics of the cam ends... do they appear to be sanded/ground on to make them appear stock ??? I have seen people remove the stampings in order to make the cams appear stock... throwing off the watchful eyes of the tech guy when examining an engine during inspection.
The paint colors might help identify them... did you tell the tech guys at Crower about them ???
