Default 07+ 3rd generation CRv suck? Or bad resale value?

Hi, I'm in the market for another CRV. I currently own a 99 1st gen and I have family members who own a couple of the 2nd gen CRVs.

Im debating to pick up this 06 SE AWD for $10k w/90,xxx miles or a 05 EX AWD for $10k w/85,xxx miles and am wondering how come and why are there so many 3rd gens for sale for almost the same price ($10k +) but with lower miles?!?!?

The 06 SE is at a dealership and the salesman suggested their 07+ CRV inventory. I didnt care much for it until I saw the prices!!! So I got carried away and started to look at craigslist and autotrader... Is there something wrong with the 3rd generation or is it just bad resell value (since they are at 4.5 generations now?)?

Good question. I just bought an 06 EX manual. The last year US got a manual option. I also noticed I was paying a premium for a 2nd gen over 3rd gens in similar condition. 3rd gen looks better IMO, better mpg, more HP, more cargo volume. So what gives? If they offered a manual 3rd gen I'd have bought it. I even considered building one.

Nothing wrong with the 3rd generation as far as I know. Its got the same engine as the second gen (k24) My mother and father in law both have 3rd gen crvs, a 2011, and a 2008. The 2011 has 158,000 miles and the 2008 has over 200,000 on it. They have yet to have a single issue except an A/C compressor

The one thing I will add though, is the 1st and 2nd gen are a lot more roomy then the third gen. The 3rd gen is a lot more cramped in the front area, with more of an "suv" feel. The 1st and 2nd gen have a lot more leg room, almost with a mini van sort of feel. Comparing my 1st gen to a 3rd gen the 1st gen definitely has a lot more room.

The 3rd gen CRV is a great vehicle. The motors have about 20hp over the 2nd gen and don't have the exploding AC compressor issues. I think the 2nd gen looks better though. The 3rd gen has had early rust issues.
