Default LSV with GTR crank/rods CTR pistons

I have a GSR head/crank/rods.
(All GSR stuff is out of a B18c1)
LS B18a1 block
CTR pistons (PCTX)
GSR oil pump/water pump
Skunk 2 stage 2 cams/springs and titanium retainers.
Skunk pro series intake with 70mm Omni TB
Arp head and rod bolts
4/1 header and 3" tubing to a magnaflow muffler.
Racing GSR timing belt
Bosch fuel pump
320 injectors

Plan on using damon2 chipped p72 ecu and tuning with Neptune

Has anyone ran a setup close to this and if so did it run strong?
Any suggestions?

You don't NEED to use the LS crank, but added displacement on smaller motors is always a bonus.

No. Put ARP rod bolts in them. Mine see 9200rpm every time it's driven.

You wont want to run the PCT pistons on the LS crank though. I would look at P30's or JDM R pistons on the LS crank.

I'm confused...
So don't use arp rod bolts and go with an ls crank... The GSR rods would slide around on that crank and cause vibrations at high revs. So I would have to go with Ls rods... That would completely change all of my build... Was hoping on getting advise with making this build work. What CR would my build yield?
The deck hight for the GSR and the LS are the same... So doing this build would be the same as doing it in a GSR right? So my combustion height would be .030" higher than a stock GSR and then the added dome hight as well. Tolorences will be very tight. People run the CTR or PCTX pistons in b20 all motor builds all the time. Doing 13:1 CR and getting 200+ whp. These are the parts I have and am running low on funds. Looking for advise from people with similar builds.

Would love to use the LS crank but would loose the durable GSR rods... Not seeing a way around it. Plus I would be stuck with ls pistons.... Running a tight budget for this build. Most parts were given to me by a friend that was trying to do this build in his GSR.

Came in here hoping to see someone cutting 2 throws off an Inline 6 crank....

oh well.

On topic!

LS crank, LS rods, ARP rod bolts, and whatever pistons yield the compression ratio you want. You can use either an LS or a GSR block, but you will need to remove and plug the oil squirters in the GSR block (because of the larger crank throw).

The LS rods hold plenty of power. Hell im making 240+ on them and plan on doing more...

the ls rods with arp bolts will be fine just as good maybe better than gsr oem rods.

dont use ctr pistons the dome is pretty excessive. pr3 or p30 pistons on the 89mm crank should give around 12:1 which is fine. dont worry too much about the squirters my 500 hp turbo block doesnt use them and it sees 9000 rpm just fine

You can always get the LS rods shot peened for better durability..

My last setup I used a gsr block with Ls crank, Ls rods, arp rod bolts and usdm type r Pistons, I bought the golden eagle oil plugged since my crank counter weight hit the edge of them, bending the squatters didn't help.

It ran strong and pulled hard as hell. Just wished back then I was only smart enough to have a tunable ecu or s300v3 like I do now makes it way easy if you like building ur own way. So my last setup it ran strong but I didn't even have the correct a/f on it as I melted the piston ( dumb *** didn't know much about a/f back then. But if I had the correct a/f on it I think it had potential to be a killer.

I think my last setup was around 11.5-11.8cp. Next I'm goin with boosted lsv with forged internals. Already have 70trim hot side Garrett turbo stock Ls crank and Ls eagle rods, cp 9.1.1 Pistons in a Ls block with gsr head. When it gets warmer I'll start piecing it together.

Ok. I want to run the LS crank/rods with Arp bolts. Still using the CTR pistons cause that's what I have. Getting a cometic gasket. Any suggestions on the thickness. I'm thinking .050" witch will take the cr to around 12.5/1 so I can run e85 for better tuning ranges. The better question is what CR is better for an e85 tune. Seeing as I can pretty much put a range of a .098" to .030" gasket on?

Compression isn't going to be as big a deal here as clearances will. 13:1 on E85 is perfectly pine, but with those huge domed pistons and big cams, claying the motor and checking all clearances w/ the bottom end and vales is going to be crucial.
