Icon4 needs advice please! possible swaps for 88 civic wagon

Hello everyone,

Could anyone tell me what kind of engines I can use for a 88 civic wagon? My friend has a B18B1 engine from an acura, not sure if it is possible. Thanks guys.

Anyways my current situation is that my honda engine needs a rebuild from the bottom up unless I swap it, I got a quote from someone way saying they can do the rebuild for 800 labor and 400-450 for the parts. Could I have some advice please on what I should rather do?

Thanks for all the help.

b18a is cheaper, and you can keep obd0. That is the cheapest option for better power. Or you could swap in a d16a6 that is healthy for even cheaper and keep obd0. It seems like you are on a strict budget. Hope this helps.

If you swap to the b18 engine, you'll need all the b series swap stuff to go with it. (trans, linkage, axles, mount kit, etc).
Staying with a D series (like the factory installed engine) would be the easiest and probably cheapest.

Any engine swap is possible depending on your budget.

cut to fit linkage, use a combination of oem honda b and d series mounts, axles are cheap. It can be cost effective. an ls transmission and b18a would only run like 300 dollars at pick and pull. then just grab a couple other things (like axles and mounts) and you could be on your way for less than 400 dollars.
