Default ej speedo cluster in my Ek

how's it going guys?

I got a super cool ej cluster, and I don't know how to get it in my ek. I tried disassembling both, and the faces grounding points don't match up on the circuit board. eh? or maybe eeeek..

so yeah, how can I use faces from an ej cluster in an ek, and how do the needles on the faces actually come off?

thanks

if you don't know how to remove the needles, just sell it and buy an actual 96-00 cluster.

Do yourself a favor and stop trying to use chassis designators. Just use actual years. You apparently don't know what an "EJ" or an "EK" are, and you're only muddying the waters more trying to use those phrases.

whoops, my bad. I probably really don't know anything about hondas.

I have a 97 four door, which I thought meant it was an ek.

the gauge cluster that I have says ej -and some number. don't remember what number.

I don't know what year the cluster came from..

let me work on getting some pictures, maybe that will be more helpful.

Your car most likely isn't an EK. Stupid kids on Facebook call them EKs, because they're too stupid to know the difference or they think it's cool to act like they have something that shares literally nothing more than a few body panels with actual, performance-oriented vehicles. The fourth, fifth, and sixth digits of your VIN are the chassis code. Since it's a sedan (and given some other smaller clues that we don't need to go into), there's a 99.99% chance that it's either an EJ6 (DX/LX), or an EJ8 (EX). The gauge cluster wouldn't have the chassis code stamped on it, so it's a safe bet that the numbers you're seeing there are irrelevant.

Yes, in this situation, a picture says a thousand words.

That's...Chinese. Huh, interesting. I mean, you theoretically could swap clusters, but it won't be the correct shape, so it'll look funny. You can find information for that here. It doesn't look like you can just swap faces, either - 100 on a 6G cluster is is a hair to the left of the top, but the 100 symbol on that cluster is more than a hair to the right of the top.

I don't know why you'd want a gauge cluster that's in Chinese, but whatever, you do you. You're gonna have to do some rewiring and custom mounting to make it work.

I just wanna use the cluster because it's sweet, and it was free. it's also got some weird illumination that seems relatively simple to hook up.

thanks for the link, I think I'll try to make it work. maybe enlist the help of some old fashioned EE troops.

I'll let y'all know how it turns out. I'm less worried about how it looks than how it functions. if you saw the civic you'd understand more thoroughly.

thanks again

I seen an integra ac control unit on here couple years ago, and it was the same. I want to say it was something for handicapped people? It was something along those lines. Sweet man, but yeah it wont really fit lol.

worked perfectly, thanks for the link.

I went and pulled the harness for the back of the cluster out of a 91 civic I believe, and used that link to reconnect the harness.

although I did somehow loose my hazards, but I'll go Back and foUk with that later.

I couldn't figure out how to make the weird lighting of the gauges work. the dimmer doesn't work, and a simple hot and ground wouldn't turn the damn things on, so I gotta little weird.

thanks again for the link.
