Hey guys. So I recently did a jdm gsr swap with b16 pistons into my EF, had to do the dual port to mpfi as well.Anyways this was my first swap so it was a learning process as I went along.
I got the thing running, but it wont rev up, when I step on the gas it just runs like poop and bogs out. Along with another issue of only having my battery light come on, on the dash when the key is turned to the "on"
Funny thing is though, at one point messing with the timing I had it idling ALOT better, and it even revved up if you slowly eased on the gas pedal but if you romped it, it would bog out. Again messed with the timing, This time getting it dead on( not using a timing light ) and now it runs worse.. Idles a lot worse and wont even rev up at all. Looking at some insight on where to look/what to do next. I changed the fuel filter as well. has fresh gas.

What ecu are you using to run it?

 

Obd1 P72.

 

Have you done any maintenance? I myself had this problem when my cap and rotor was bad. Also check the ICM. and maybe do new plugs and wires for good measure.

 

I changed the dizzy recentely. Another thing,lastnight I realized my fuelpump DOESNT stop priming when I turn the key to on. Wouldn't this be the issue and causing it to flood? Lastnight I threw my bottom timing belt cover on, got the timing exact, started it up and it did idle and run better but still bogged on a heavy foot. then I wired up my knock sensor and ran even worse after that, im assuming cause it was flooded?

 

I'm having the same issue did you solve the issue? I have a 88 ef with a gsr swap and wont rev hi it cuts off need help.
