I just got a 2000 Honda Accord Lx off craigslist. Has 168k, 5spd vtech engine. I started noticing lots of steam coming from the engine bay, then I looked and saw coolant spewing out from the bottom of my intake manifold. It looks like there is a tiny hole inside the circular part of the manifold on the underside. My question is, how in the world is coolant getting into the intake manifold and how do I fix this??? Also, will I need to replace my manifold?
Hopefully the pic will show up, I'm new to this haha.
Looks like a freeze plug, if you can measure its diameter and pickup a new one from the parts store you should be golden.
Use a coarse screw or lag bolt to screw into the existing hole, use some vise grips and try to pull it out. If that doesn't work use a punch inside the hole to rock the plug out.
Just me but I would think one of the hoses has a leak in it vs a pin hole in the intake
Yeah actually upon further investigation it was one of the hoses coming off the eacv. Took em off checked them for cracks/rot, nothing. Put em back on and tightened the clamps, it rode fine for about 20 mins then started leaking again from idk where. But i think its coming from the eacv
