Default 96 A/C compressor. Help!

So my A/C compressor is broken and I wanted to know if it's possible just to take the ac compressor out and run a shorter belt. That was made for an older vehicle without an ac compressor. And just run it to my altenator. Would this work?& Would my car be able to run without the part... Not quite sure.

If you can find the correct belt, you don't need the compressor

Exactly. If you can find the correct size belt you can bypass the compressor. Or you can get one of these by pass pulleys and run the correct belt. Either one will work, but getting a by pass pulley may be easier.

It's likely depending on what car you have you can get an alternator belt for a dx model.
