Well there are two sensors there. The front one, the two wire sensor, is the Engine coolant temp sensor. It is the ECT signal for the ECU. And the single wire sensor is the Engine Coolant temp sensor signal for the gauge cluster.

As I said, it is a temp sensor. The brown one, with 2 wires, in the front, is the ECT sensor for the ECU.

As ghost accord said, that's the ECT sensor. With the grey connector. Tells the computer the engine temp.
