Need tranny help. Differences in new tranny. PLS HELP.
So I am putting in a JDM transmission I ordered off Ebay into my 93 accord lx and everything looks fine except on the back of the new tranny there is a black box with a large 6 pin or so connector. My stock one does not have this. I can't find any info on what this is or if it will make a difference in how the tranny functions if I just leave it unplugged. Anyone out there know what this is and if I need to swap black plates with the stock tranny (if possible). Wanting to hang it today, so please help. Thanks in advance.

So apparently I got an MPJA tranny from the JDM supplier. In the process of checking the flex plate to see if I need to swap. Still dont know about the right side cover differences and still looking for help before I slide it in. Here are some pictures of the difference b/w the two. These are not my actual ones but they are what I have.

Okay, so I pulled the cover off this piece and there is a small output shaft going into this device. No part number on it. Probably a 3/16" diameter shaft sticks out of the tranny about an inch. So, this means I cant change the right side cover plate.

That appears to be at least a 5th gen accord transmission which afaik uses a different computer setup to work right. I believe the 5th and 6th gen transmission like that uses that connector/sensor under the cover plate to determine that gear the transmission is in compared to what the shifter shows it to be in, as in if you are in d3, d4 etc on the shifter, does that match what the transmission actually is in.
You may be able to get away with just ignoring it on your 4th gen since afaik the TCU doesnt look for that signal/sensor.
