00 Civic ex/D16y5 swap running a P28 ecu
So I am new to the Honda game I recently bought a 00 Honda Civic ex with a D16y5 swap running a P28 ecu.. Wit that being said my V-tec doesn't kick in and when it dose it's between 5200-5500 why is that?? I drove my brother car same year same model except he has a y8 and he also runs a P28 ecu!! Some ONE OLEAEE HELP ME OUT.. Thanks
You have a HX trim engine. Its economy vtec, not a performance oriented vtec.
Basically you bought a car swapped with a slower/gayer motor than stock
EDIT: You need a P2N I believe, not a P28.

A custom map will be need as well as changing the vtec changeover, leaning out cruising spds..etc..etc..
Not to mention if you need to pass emissions, which hasn't been specified if the OP needs to or not, is something that should be considered.

It is my understanding that any ecu could be changed to any other ECU, and VTEC or VTEC-e can be added to a non-vtec ecu.
And since the engine is factory specification, there should be no problem using say a p06 ecu thats be transformed into a p2n.
