Default 1993 Prelude si 4 speed automatic question

Hello all, Im trying to get myself into a honda as of recently and have been shopping around. The other day I test drove a honda plant employees 93 prelude si with the automatic transmission. I have never driven a honda, only jeep, pontiac, nissan, chrysler etc. Is it normal for these transmissions to shift hard into every gear? I would almost describe it as a jerking in every gear, but I have no experience with them. When I go back to see it again I'm planning on checking the trans fluid level, color and smell. Just don't know the norm on these trans.
Thanks guys.

it should drive the same as any other automatic car you have drove in the past. jerking or rough shifts is def not the norm
