93 honda accord lx
I have a 93 honda accord lx and just put a new head, water pump, timing belt etc... Got it all put back together and it started up and ran great for an hour or so... Head to gas station and everything is fine other than a couple hiccups.. Leave gas station and notice my rpm guage is erratic, check engine light on an d4 light flashing and keep hearing a constant clicking under driver dash... Needless to say car died and had to tow it home... Car will sometimes start and then die but mostly not start while constant fast clicking under driver dash... What is going on??
First things first: Since your D4 light is flashing, check the error code.
Checking code: Use a paper clip or other metal lead and short the 2 jacks on the diagnostic pigtail, located under the dash on the passenger side floorboard, right next to where the passenger's right foot would be. If you're not clear on this procedure, google search "checking OBD-1 code 1993 Accord" and you'll find plenty of information, including a chart of code definitions.
It sounds like it could be the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) but I'm not so sure about the clicking under the dash - that could be the main relay (?), which would explain the stalling & no-start. (When you turn the key, do you hear the fuel pump prime the system?)

Also - these accords are known for the ignition switch going bad, causing intermittent stalling & no-start (jiggle the key while it's running, and it may stall) - obviously you can't do that, but something to check for when you get it started.
