2000 Honda Accord Intermittent No Start - Bad Relay Solder Joint?
Hi all, I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX. I have been having problems with an intermittent no start for a while. I will occasionally hop into the car and turn the key, but it will only turn over and not start. It also sounded kind of weird while idling sometimes.
After looking at a number of different things, I gave up and took it to a mechanic. They told me it was the "programmable fuel injection main relay", and that it would be $225 to replace. I looked into the problem online and saw that these often have bad solder joints. I decided it wasn't worth their fee, so I'm trying to repair this myself.
So I mainly have two questions:
1. This is the correct part, right?
2. Are these 3 pins supposed to be soldered together? It doesn't look right to me, and every image I've seen shows the one pin separated from the other two.
Re: 2000 Honda Accord Intermittent No Start - Bad Relay Solder Joint?
You are correct. The circuit boards in the Main Relays go bad because they get stress cracks. The Gauge Cluster circuit board does the same thing for the odometer. You can attempt to re-solder those joints. Or, just buy a new Main Relay from an online dealer like I did.
