94 Accord EX. Dumping MSD products
About 2 Years ago I had some Ignition issues so I ended up "upgrading" to MSD Plug Wires, MSD Blaster COIL and MSD Cap/Rotor. I have had nothing but problems with it. My Igniters only seem to last 6 months, I have already had to replace the coil, the plug wires do not fit the plugs well, they are not tight, they seem a little short and they keep popping out. The center pin on my Cap is extremely worn and I can no longer find a replacement.(also amazon no longer ships MSD products to California. Out of frustration I ordered a new Set of NGK Wires and went to pickYourPart today and pulled a great looking distributor with stock coil and igniter. I didn't want to rewire, that's why I grabbed a new dist. I tossed in a set of newish civic wires until the NGKs come in tomorrow. So far my first impressions is that the engine seems to rev a little slower, I will play with it a bit and post again, hopefully this resolves my misfire issues.
Just wanted to share.

Update.. As I was doing the first post it hit me.. Did I adjust the timing? Nope. Lol. The bolts were still loose and the timing was very retarded(not the politically insensitive kind of retarded). Ill do some more testing tomorrow.
FWIW. The Temple of VTEC - Honda and Acura Enthusiasts Online - Articles - Got to wonder about Magnecor wires...: NGK vs. OEM Spark Plug Wires
For EX B1 engines Sumitomo are the OEM wires. Price difference between Sumitomo set from the dealer and NGKs from RockAuto is minimal. Sumitomo kit also comes with new wire holders.

So far so good. No more issues since removing the MSD parts. The NGK wires snapped into place they belonged there unlike the MSD wires that I had to fidget with and they never really felt like they were connected correctly.
+2. I've never run them on my Honda, but I've run MSD products on my Dodge truck and I probably wouldn't buy them again.
I'm sure they are good on some cars, all of the car shows use them like crazy on the V8's but I learned my lesson. They may give you some gains but you sacrifice dependability. The fancy shiny Red MSD logos definitely add Horsepower on the Visual dyno. lol. Your engine bay looks faster when they are installed. haha
