2002 Honda Accord Excessive valve train noise
Hey everyone,
brand new new to the page. I'm trying to help someone that has a 2002 Honda Accord that has a brand new rebuilt transmission. She got it back from the shop yesterday after they had worked on the transmission for almost 3 1/2 weeks. When she got the car back, the TCS activator and TCS indicator lights were on, and there is also an excessive amount of noise coming from what seems to be right in front of the steering column in the engine bay when accelerating. It's much easier to here in the cab while driving and gets a lot louder when accelerating to higher rpms. I don't know to much about Honda (used to gm motors). If you have any ideas on what could be going on please comment! Bridges were burned between the mechanic shop and her and she does not want to go back. I'm going to run some codes tomorrow.
Thanks!

If the valve train is loud, check that there is oil in the crankcase.
If the engine had work done they may have not properly adjusted the valves, .010 intake, .012 exhaust for F engines(four cylinder).
If the TCS(traction control) light is on, they may have damged the wiring to the wheel sensors when replacing the transmission. Look for the Orange wire connectors and follow them down from the engine bay to the knuckles. If they didn't properly torque the CV axle stub bolts the bearing may be sloppy and the reluctor ring maybe cattywampus and giving a false signal to the sensor.

The engine didn't have any work done, which is what bothers me about the noise. They shouldn't have accessed any valves. I'll check the wiring tomorrow morning with an update.
People do weird ****.
Sketch mechnicos do even worse.
Check basics first, coolant, oil, gas, whatever.
Pull wires and plugs and verify they are OK.
Shitty people can be, shitty.
