Default SOHC ZC motor in 92 honda civic.

I have a 1992 honda cx. Motor blew. I purchased a sohc ZC motor.
Im currently running the cx distributor. Im getting a bog under full throttle.
I know im missing something simple. Is there much info on the 94 SOHC zc motor swap?

Did you set base idle, ignition timing, and mechanical timing when you swapped the motor?

Yes. I replaced timing belt/water pump/ plugs. I left the wires/cap/rotor because they looked ok.. Set idle, then set timing.

Me thinks you will have to use the ZC distributor. Maybe the B7 dizzy is causing you issues; not to mention it houses the cam position sensor.

Are you using the stock CX injectors, or the ZC injectors? Stock CX ECU, or ZC ECU?

or, as an alternative, you could try using a zc cap and rotor and modifying distributor timing

He already said he set ignition timing correctly. Which distributor he's using isn't the issue.

I am using the ZC intake and injectors. Stock CX ecu.

Here is what it does. When you are just at light tip in throttle it feels fine. As soon as you start to give it gas, it goes, but it bogs the whole time. So it doesnt accelerate for ****. If you are in 4th and 5th gear and there is just a small hill, you wont be able to accelerate, it bogs.

Tomorrow, im removing the cat, replacing fuel filter. Any other suggestions?

Use the CX injectors. You're using oversized injectors, drowning the engine.

Well, the engine is a zc engine and head with the zc intake and injectors.
that doesnt make much sense. I will give it a shot though.

The ECU controls the injectors based on %. The injectors you are using are 20% larger than what the ECU thinks it's using, so you're getting 20% more fuel than you should be getting. There's too much fuel, so the spark can't fully ignite the mixture, causing it to not run correctly.

In short, you're flooding the engine. I'm sorry that it doesn't make sense to you, but it's basic "how an engine works" kind of stuff.

The other issue you're running into is that you're expecting an ECU made for a 1.5L engine, to properly run a 1.6L engine. Even if you were using the correct injectors, it wouldn't be running 100% properly. Engines don't work that way. In a perfect world, you would either get the SOHC ZC ECU, or you would get a chipped/tuned ECU specifically for that engine. Since we aren't in a perfect world, and it's a safe bet that you don't want to spend that kind of money, just going to the stock CX injectors with the stock CX ECU is step 1 for you.

Gotcha. Computer is asking for 40% injector on a 150cc injector. But the actual injector is a 250cc so its pouring it in. Makes sense. Those were just made up numbers.
Do you have a rec: on where i would send my stock ecu to get that set up for a sohc zc motor??

I will slap the injectors in tomorrow and let you know. Thanks man. Appreciate the issue.
That would also explain why when im light throttle it runs great. When im hard throttle its just dead and you SMELL exhaust. Anyways, thanks again.

Yeah, you're understanding it now.

Apparently the P06 ECU works well. That's the ECU for a 92-95 DX, which uses the D15B7, which uses 240cc/min injectors (same as the ZC you have). Should be mostly plug and play for you.

the ecu is 100% your problem. cx= 8 valve motor.

Well, ******* car didnt even start this morning. It coughed once, then just crank and crank....
Whats funny is i used to have 20 or 30 of the p06 ecus that i would give to a buddy of mine that would chip them or some **** and
sell them. I have nothing now. Such a basic bitch ecu and im going to end up paying for it i know it.

Im going to put the injectors in today and see if that helps at all. I pulled a plug and its just SOAKED in fuel.

I will try and find a P06. IM assuming i need a P06 out of a manual correct?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, you'll need a manual P06. Fuel soaked plugs further point towards flooding out the engine, though, which is diagnostically good - it means we're on the right path. Now you just have to hope you haven't flooded the engine to the point of washing the sleeves.

Weell i got a auto out of a 93 dx. I guess i can convert it. I may just slap it in and see what happens. Or just swap injectors and call it a day.

I will let you know.

Automatic ECU's can be converted. See thread below.

The car wouldn't start today. Found a dead coil. Slapped in a new dist. And it started up. Still had a really bad bog still. I rocked the timing and it was waaaaay retarded. Adjusted it and it runs great. Should I still swap out those injectors?
I'm looking for a manual p06. I have an auto p06 I may convert.

I would swap one or the other, before you damage something. Cylinder wash can kill a motor with a quickness.

Racist,
Here is how far I have to have the dist turned to get timing right. I put a timing belt on and I wonder if it's off a tooth. Checking today. Runs great now. Going to keep the cx computer and use the cx injectors so I can maintain that gas mileage.

not over. running a 16v motor on an 8v ecu is a horrible idea.
