2009 Accord: Was quoted $1200 for new brake pads and rotors. Huge headache ensues...
so basically i went to an indy shop to have a few things looked at and he recommended rotors and pads at a price of $1200.
thinking this was high, i went out and bought my own parts (OEM pads, Centric rotors) and brought it to another shop who charged me $300 to install.
unfortunately, the right rear wheel now feels like it is rumbling, the brake is squealing and something is definitely up.
no idea if there is an issue with the install or the part, but i ordered a replacement rotor just in case.
now i am kind of stuck. i don't know how to do the job myself and i don't want to get crushed in labor $ while throwing parts at it.
any thoughts?

I'd take it back there and tell them they need to warranty their work.
It's hard to tell without looking at it in person. First first thought is that maybe they didn't twist and push the pistons on the calibers back in causing one to seize up. On the rear you need a tool that can twist and push the piston in instead of pushing them in with a clamp like the fronts. I don't know that that's the case though.
That all said, I'd take this time to learn to do them yourself. The tool you need to twist the pistons in is about $15 at Advance Auto and the only other tools you need are sockets, a c-clamp or brake tool to push to the front pistons back in, and maybe an impact screw driver to take the screws out of the rotor. After you see how easy they are to do you'll kick yourself for ever paying someone $300 to do it. It literally takes me about 10-15 minutes per side.

Agreed, how long has it been since you had the new brakes installed? Take it back to the shop that did the work and kindly ask them to repair it under warranty.

for all 4 pads and rotors? seemed to be going rate around here (NY)

It could be better, but that's not super outrageous.
