Spoon calipers 4x100 conversion
Hi everyone,
I am trying to install a set of Spoon calipers on a 4x100 bolt pattern car. I read about Mini Cooper rotors but didn't like the fact that they were too small, had overly large stud holes and the retaining screws didn't fit.
I researched and found MG ZS 180 rotors solved all of these problems, so I bought some. The thing is the friction surface is a little too large. I.e. the brake pad does not cover the entire rotor, like in this picture:

I wanted to ask if this can cause a problem or not? Thanks!

Does the pad hang over on the outside of the rotor? If not and the entire pad surface is on the rotor, you will be fine. If it hangs over, you will just get uneven pad wear.
I have been using the Mini Copper rotors on my track car for a few years and have never had any issues.

Thanks for the reply Reyes. The pads sit entirely within the rotor's friction surface. The 'problem' is the opposite, the not does not cover all of it. On the outside edge there are like 2 mm of rotor left, which I believe is normal. On the inside edge however, there are like 5 mm left.
In the sticky at top of this section your question is answered on the first page. Look for Libertariat's post's.

Many are designed like this to leave a gap there. You can run a 2 piece rotor because you need that extra space for where it attaches. Even a brand new wilwood kit will have that if used without a 2 piece rotor.
