Im attempting to do an awd conversion on my 03 rsx but i have a few questions.
I read that the crv awd system is weak that the civic wagon is better cuse it could handle more abuse. Is it because of the drive shaft better on the wagon or is it the rear diff??
I also found a wrx rear diff at my local junkyard and was woundering if i could use that instead. I read the wagon and crv have a 2.something ratio and the wrx is about 4.something. With that said would it still work i custom make a crv and wrx driveshaft (cut in halve and weld)?? Im also aware that the axles have to be to turned into crv/wrx.
I also don't want to use a fuel cell so i was wondering if i can custom build one with HDPE sheets (did some research and thas the same material the oem fuel tank is made of) i can remove the oem tank and place the custom tank in the same place. The measurement im thinking is 24L 20W 8H thats about 15 gallons
The rear trailing arms im going to use the 02/04 crv and rear nuckles so i can turn it awd.
Im still gathering parts and tools but i need some input on the questions i have.
Thanks for the info im going to use the 02/04 crv drive shaft and diff.
I dont really want to use a fuel cell cuse i want my fuel guage to work. how about if i custom the rsx one (cut and plastic weld) i found a 15 gallon fuel tank and with a few modification it would be able to use the rsx oem fuel pump. I could place it under the spare tire well of course i will have to cut the well end weld a sheet of metal to make it flat. Then place the tank under there.
This guy custom made this one but it doesnt say how but from the pic it looks like a plastic fuel tank
