p28 ecu, usdm oil pump, on jdm 98 tir motor!
Hello, I have a 98 jdm type r, I just installed a usdm oil pump while doing the timing belt/water pump change out. I know now, that I need a usdm timing belt cover;/ I also changed the crank pully to a ctr n1 crank pully because I deleted ac. Also should let you know I have a chasebays wiretucked engine harness obd1 (ecu p28) to (obd2 jdm r engine). My acutal queston is, with using the usdm oil pump, and the obd1 ecu, will I have a problem because of the crank sensor on the oil pump? Hope I'm explaining this right. Any feed back would be appreciated. P.S. I've tried to find this answer with no luck! Quick side note, will a usdm type r oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket work on my jdm type r motor? Jdm parts are hard to find, least in MN.....

No, you still don't have a CKF sensor, regardless of the pump. The obd1 ecu doesn't look for CKF anyway.
Lose the N1 pulley. It's not designed for this engine, and is not really meant to be on a street car anyway. ATI or Fluidampr if you need something single row. Keep the stock one if you're on a budget.
All b series pan gaskets are the same, all vtec b series valve cover gaskets are the same.

i want an fluid-ampr one but their like 300$ sumthin, and man I just put the motor in a painted bay, I really dont want to go through all that mess in changing it again! Plus It's on a civic type originally so I dont think it will break too soon, I dont beat the **** outta my car either and only drive it in the summer. But I hear ya and have heard things about it too!

why do you have the N1 pulley in the first place?
google "harmonic balancer" maybe you don't know what the crank pulley does
I didn't know either until I did some research. then spend that 325 dollars for ATI crank pulley NOT fluidamper. a crank pulley is cheaper than motor rebuild lets put it this way
ATI balancer can be only with alternator pulley all others are optional

I hear ya, but until I get the money up, since this is brand new, it should be good for a min, right? It winter here so I store my whip, and have only started it a handful of times.?
As long as I drive it good I should be fine until i get a ATI and get it installed...???

Yea you will be fine, if this was a track car seeing high rpms then id say no but theres people who claim they never had issues but to have a good damper on than one that doesnt do what it should do. Cause its solid and wont absorb no vibrations ect.
if you notice b16b rod/stroke ratio is different from all the other ones.
2 crank rods and pistons are better balanced same as type-r
jdm type-r has the smallest diameter pulley of all b series
then I belive b16 gsr
ls and b20 have largest pulley and most unbalanced rotating assembly, lighter counterweights on crank and biggest stroke of all b series.
if its a stock itr I would say you are better off than if it was a b20vtec. then you should get it.
but itr being one of the better balanced motors from factory maybe you be able to get away with it
you could test it for us and come back when/if it fails.
or put a dampener on it and sleep better at night

^Brother I hear ya, really I do. But I need the money and this crank puelly is brand new, I just started the fresh swap up, so I think I'll have some time, and considering I store it for the winter, it should be fine until i get the funds....
