Need opinion: Projector headlights now, HID later.
We all know that 92-95 has the shietiest headlights. That's why I want to swap the OEM for some projector, then later upgrade to HID. So far I can't find any quality projector aftermarket yet. Any input would help. I was leaning toward JDM headlights, but realize they're pretty much like USDM (non projector). So they're not suitable for HID. So Projector or not? And what brand?
Denji projectors are cool..
or those halo angel eyes
my friend has angel eyes on his hb, lots of wiring, but it looks nice, night and day

My first hand experience w/ my friend's Civic tells me that Denji projectors suck. It's not the brand, though, it's the fact that it uses H3 foglight bulbs. H3 bulbs are made for a short wide beam pattern and are not suitable for headlight use. You will not be able to see as well as with stock lights. I know this for a fact.
Your absolute best bet would be to try to custom fabricate some headlights. You could use stock headlight housings, with lenses from a set of angel eye headlights (totally clear lens). Then you could either mount some 9006/9005 projector headlights inside, then later get a 9006 HID conversion. However for the absolute best light output and beam spread, you should get a set of OEM HID projectors from a BMW or Audi and custom fit them inside your headlight housing. Tony the Tiger has an Acura 1.6 EL w/ custom mounted X5 HID projectors and custom made high beams. It looks
and works even better.

i would buy the denji's, then later id find a set of OEM HID projectors (audi, bmw, s2000, cadillac, etc.) or even the aftermarket Hella HID projectors (60mm & 90mm) and id do a retrofit. It does take some work, but its a lot better than buying a "beam pattern corrected" HID kit..
OR.. there are a few H4 Adapter shield kits out there these days that offer more glare reduction, and make the light inside the housing identical to the light inside an OEM HID housing..
see the autolamps HID shield? see the distinct cut off? next time you see a GS400 at night, look directly into his housing at an angle, you will notice it looks the same.
also, these shields make the housings reflect more of the blue color from the 4300K bulbs, so there is no need to buy the POS 6000K ricer bulbs anymore.
so if you want to save money, you could just use your OEM civic lights and try one of these adapter kits.. a project i want to try, is retrofitting some D2R bulbs into a set of JDM civic headlights with a shield. the beam pattern is a lot cleaner on the JDM headlights.. the OEM USA headlights just put out 2 hot spots, and the JDM units put out more of a spread.

That's what I was thinking. I was gonna buy some angel eyes for now ( money is tight), then later buy some HID projectors off Ebay, custom fit into the housing. Then buy HID kit. One question. ARe those Audi, BMW,.... using the same HID bulbs? Or do they have like H1, H3, H4 like those halogen? I mean, different size bulbs. Because I don't really know much about HID, all info will be appreciated. Thanks
