Default 96 swap

I have 96 Gsr with a bad rod, want to see if/ and what I need to swap my 96 Gsr with my 96 ls motor only. Any and all pointers will help. Just need something to drive bc I'm rebuild my Gsr motor. Or would it be easier to put the Gsr head on the ls block. Plz help

What do you mean by "Bad Rod" are you sure it's the rod that is the problem? If it's bearings depending on how quickly you found the issue you may be able to do a simple bearing replacement, between that and a new HG you might be out maybe $150. If it is a rod then you would probably want to be through and get it replaced along with the bearings and new piston rings if needed as well as making sure to get it balanced at a machine shop with the other pistons and then reinstall after plasti gauge the bearings. If it's more then that then maybe doing a ls vtec conversion could be considered but you already have a better base engine to start with so why go back a step? To check and do everything I just said would run you between 2 days to a week of time depending on just whacked wrong and how quickly you can get parts along with whatever is determined to be the issue

I should say as well if it is a bearing that went bad you will likely want to get your oil pan and oil pickup hot tanked, if it is a bearing and depending on how bad it got it could effect the other bearings as well...but no telling until you pull your oil pan and head and see just what's wrong

I have already replace all bearings spun #4. Now it still knocks a little on the number 4 rod. There was alot of issues before I got into it. I just wanna swap motors til I get my Gsr rebuilt and I kno is going to coast but it will be worth it in the long run. I just don't know if the ecu will still work with the ls motor. I just don't know what it really needs and people on Google half *** kno what they r talking about. Anything Indo will help, thank you for the reply.

Well then your gsr will be the donor, it will have most everything you need to do a successful swap that well run...to what degree it's similar depends on how much your willing to spend on making sure it's going to be reliable, roughly $500-600 would get you everything you would want to make it the best it can be assuming your water pump and oil pumps are in good working order.
