Default What is the strongest manual 5 speed Transmission for a d16z6

Criteria is : 180 WHP from a d16z6 engine. Looking for Even spaced gearing, Not first 3 gears that sound like I never shifted Then the 4th and 5th being too Wide.
Even spaced gearing and strong enough to hold up to road racing.

92-95 EX/SI, or 96-00 EX. Those are your options for a performance oriented transmission, period. I guarantee you don't have enough power to "make it sound like you never shifted" rowing through the gears. I also guarantee that you don't understand why lower gears are shorter than taller gears, or what torque multiplication is.

Stick with an EX/SI transmission.

What is the strongest 5spd? I believe a custom rebuilt tranny is your best bet. Hows the build?

Tony_2018 I have a d16z6 engine bored .25mm over. Crank knife edged, pollished eagle rods,pm6 Pistons milled down with -5.00 cc dish. Fully coated and Jet-Hot coating on the Tops of my pistons. I had the Head flow ported here in Houston. Brian Crower Stage 3 NA cam, Spings and Retainers, Blox Valves, new keepers.head had been milled .040, block decked .005.. .030 coated stainless steel head gasket.running right at 12 to 1 compression. Blox intake gasket matched to the head and the 68 mm Blox throttle body. Headers with 2.5" collector and rest of the exhaust is all 2.5" out the back.

All those parts, all that money, and still only 190 WHP. I applaud your efforts, but will use you as a case study in the future to further prove my point - NA D series is pointless.

EX/SI transmission, or learn how transmission gearing works and have a gear set custom made. End of story.

Sorry, I mixed it up. The del sol si 5th gear is shorter. 0.752 for del sol si 0.702 2dr-4dr ex

And thats impressive N/A #'s for a d16 but gosh wasnt that like 3k in parts for 60hp?

The 180 or 190 WHP is Only an estimate. As when I am totally finished with my car. I'll take it to My Dyno guy and get All adjustments made and the final power will be verified.

The strongest? I don't think any one tranny (manual) is any stronger than another. It all comes down to personal choice of performance through the gearing ie. Final drive it has

I have heard of a shop that does deal in stronger than stock transmissions. They have carbon lined gears. You might want to look into them, and give them a call. Synchrotech - Honda & Acura Transmissions

Absolutely unnecessary for a dinky little "all motor" D series.

So, since OP has admitted that he hasn't actually dyno'd the car, and doesn't actually have any clue how much power it's making, has anyone started the betting pool? 140-149 is currently paying 1.5:1, 150-159 is 1.2:1, 160-169 is 2:1, and 170+ is 12:1.

You aren't making enough power to require anything special.
Get one of the transmission listed above and toss a synchrotech rebuild kit in and call it day
