So, I have had my car for a few years now and I was looking under the dash and what not and seen this weird box. It ended up being a remote start! I ordered a whole new unit as I figured out the unit was dead and swapped it in (same model and everything) and it starts the car up no problem. One issue though, if the car is locked (security enabled), the remote start triggers the alarm.

So! I was tracing down the wire from the remote start brain that sends the disarm pulse and it's going into the door to somewhere (I think the lock actuator)?

I am having troubles finding information on the location of all of the security stuff in this car. I found some electrical diagrams and I see there is an alarm disarm but it goes to a "security control module" which looks different then the box under the passenger seat.

I was wondering if anyone on the board has experience on installing a remote start in a 97 SE and could give me a tip on where I should be wiring this disarm cable to. I haven't done much with vehicle wiring so that is what is making this difficult

 

For the SE, you would connect it to the Red/Blu wire at terminal no. 6 at the harness connector to the KEYLESS/SECURITY CONTROL UNIT under the front passenger seat. An alternative is to connect it to the Red/Blu wire at terminal no. 20 at the gray 20P connector located behind the passenger kick panel area. Red/Blu is a red wire with a blue stripe running through it.
