alright i was looking around (well im helping my friend fine an ITR). this guy is selling is R for $12,500 and its salvaged due to theft... His seats were stolen, the rims and shocks are gone...

zoom in on the rims... IT HAS 4 LUGS!!!!!!!! i called him up and asked him.. hey is this a real R or not? and he told me to go ahead and check the VIN.. itll show up as Japanese Type R! ... ok???... he told me that the thieves stold everything on the suspension and the rims... SO he told me he ended up getting GSR suspensions...?? ok i dont know a lot when it comes to suspension... but HOW can you change it into a 4 lug? He kept trying to tell me that he knows someone that can put the 5 lug and include the stock ITR rims for $1500.
So is this a real R or not?

My friend WAS wanting to buy it.. and was planning on changing everything back to stock... but until i pointed out the 4 lugs to him... but we talked him down to selling it for $10,000... but i still dont think its an actual R.. i asked him if i were to check the engine block stamp... and he said go on ahead....what do you guys think?

go cheap for the price... then you can get a 5 lug.. it looks ugly as hell tho.. so its gonna take some $$ to restore it

 

Get the vin checked out.... and get pics of all the vins all around the car if possible, or go see the car to be sure.

The body kit is not the shizzle.

Depending on what is actually left from the car, it may be a good deal. Judging by the fact that the entire suspension is fugged, I'd say there's a good chance other parts are 'replaced', and not replaced with stock R parts.

 

It has fake "Benz" mirrors too

It doesnt look that bad.

Post the bumpers and mirrors for trade for stock parts on Superhonda, youll get a bite in no time. Sell the APC wheel and buy a JDM wheel. Trade the seats for stock ITR seats as well, and youre good to go.

$11.5k for a salvaged 97/98R with original motor intact is a steal IMO.

 

Agreed, If you want an ITR for cheap. Look hard and wait until you find one. I found my 97' w/ 36,000 miles for $15,000 with a clean title and Stock(never modded at all) in excellent condition which is much cheaper than it would cost to buy and fix up that crappy car and much cheaper than the two 97's for sale on honda tech right now for $18,000 +...........


Look in newspapers, ect. I found mine in a Newspaper at Border's book store since they cary newspapers from all over the country and I just looked at classified and put the newspaper back on the shelf for free

Notice that the drivers side is on the LEFT!!! J-Spec would be on the RIGHT. If he lies about something like that, then I wouldnt trust him.

 

Maybe you should take a look at the engine and see if it's actually a B18C5 in there.

 

Well it is a type R.... notice the lack of side moldings.

The question is, what king of SPRINGS are on that car?

 

Stay away, there are probably more things missing then meets the eye.

More work than it is worth. For 6-8K more he can have a unmolested ITR with a clean title.
