1991 Honda Accord shuts off in parking lots
Hey I have a 1991 Honda Accord and it shuts off on its own, about 2 weeks ago it used to turn off at stop signs and stop lights and once on the free way. I changed the alternator and cleaned fuel injection, after that it stopped turning off . Recently I was driving through a parking lot and it shut off 8 times while I was trying to get out, and when I finally made it out it didn't turn off until the next day I entered another parking lot. It only shuts off in parking lots now. not sure what the problem is.. Help !
I had a 90 and 93 accord. That at some point both ran into this issue. both times I had to replace the distributor. On my 93 I pulled into my work place it shut off as soon as I parked it and would not restart.
Not saying for sure your distributor is the problem. But it sounds similar to what I went through.

Normally two things cause the car to simply die randomly. The number 1 issue is the main relay going out, the second issue is the ignition control module doing out. A less likely faulty ignition switch would be the 3rd very less likely reason but when the car dies you would see the dash lights go out as well. If the dash lights come on when the car dies the ignition switch should be fine.
It's almost impossible to test for a bad main relay unless you hook up a fuel pressure tester from Harbor Freight and drive around with the gauge facing you in the windshield with the hood laid gently on it. When the car dies, fuel pressure would be dropping off at that moment. Or you can pick another up at the junkyard or get a new one. You can even take it out and redo the solder joints.
This advice assumes the spark plugs are in good condition, the distributor cap and rotor are in good condition.
