Default old project that has returned to me

well its a long story... but i had a 91 hatch back in my 20's... swapped in a dohc zc and loved it... **** hit the fan as sometimes happens and i had to get rid of my second car... sold it off to a friend of a friend and explained what parts generally should work with it(questions i will be asking you guys soon i am sure) i specifically explained the transmission because the stock 4 speed had been dying for a while... any civic transmission from that gen should bolt up right and use the stock axles? i know the 4 speed did...

so the genius went and bought an integra transmission for whatever reason and of course it wouldnt work... and it sat in a field for a couple of years just like it is in the pictures... trust me i had no part in the way the engine is supported... anyway looking to get her back up to snuff over the next year or so... even have some turbo bits for after i get her healthy... but as you can see i have my work cut out for me TLDR swapped zc sold it idiot bought wrong transmission it sat bought it back

now for some (not) so pretty pictures oh and yes it was very fun getting it through the side gate...

anyway looking into my options to either get a junkyard 5 speed or rebuilding the 4 speed...

ZC transmission with intermediate shaft is the only way to go, those engines are great with a short ratio. Otherwise a Si transmission would be good to. You will need a clutch to correspond with the transmission though, might as well swap for a lighter flywheel at the same time.

If you're planning on racing the 4 speed would probably be better

4x4 with a chain crushing the map sensor.

Should have charged the guy a restocking fee instead of buying it back.

The 4 speed is god awful. I had to deal with it for a few years before swapping in a DX trans.

Get a DX/Si transmission for a 4th generation and it'll be a one for one swap. The correct transmission would be ideal but may not be worth the money for everyone or even obtainable at this point. The alternative though would be to invest in a final drive set. Otherwise, even with a DX transmission it'll be way better (FYI DX and Si have the same 1-5 gears).

EDIT: Random thought, you literally have the same thing as I had when I bought my first car. 1991 Civic STD (4spd), swapped to DOHC ZC. Same color too.
