Does anyone know the tq spec for this water tube on the side of my b18c1 head? I've searched my service manual and can't find this tq spec anywhere. And i'm assuming it seals with some hondabond on the treads?

My machine shop removed it and i'm not sure if it had a washer or oring.

I don't know if those have a specific torque spec, but I would have to guess they seal it with some sort of liquid Teflon.

 

Its pipe threaded, seal with liquid or teflon tape. Pipe threads are conical unlike bolts and get tighter as you turn them. Torque is more important when you are squeezing something in-between the fastener and the object....i.e. You torque lug nuts to hub and squeeze the rim/wheel between them and a spec is given to make sure the nuts don't back out and the wheel stays put.

So short answer is.... just plain old tight, they don't take a whole lot the teflon does most of the work eliminating leaks.

 

I would probably follow the old school method of get it to where it's getting snug, then do the quarter turn and call it a day.

I would think like regular plumbing you would use Teflon tape as a sealer but don't know if cars are different.

 

Factory uses what I assume is a liquid teflon paste. Just a little bit is needed.
