Icon5 Prepping Shell for full respray including interior question

Hey guys,

Just looking for some feedback on prepping interior and shell for paint. I am in the process of cleaning the floors and interior for paint. What are the suggested methods for this? I am doing a full respray to my EF shell.

This is what I have so far....

Do you guys grind these drain plugs down and clean them up for paint?

Yeah don't grind them down, I grinded down some grommets and clips, I ended up wasting 120 bucks on new ones!!! I dint paint my interior since I am putting all my panels and carpet back (sanded and grinded down old caulk), waste of paint in my opinion. I did use Por-15 on the interior floor board and then masked it with rubber coating from Rusfre found on Amazon. I did clean with Dawn dish soap and a rag before.

so ive also started some what of a thread and have been doing a lot of reading the past year on painting. The metal grommets and seam sealer you could apply first then paint over. Looks better in my opinion. Going to remove sound deadening? Use dry ice. Let me know if you decide Ill explain more. As for my neverending paint job, heres what Ive done. had a shitty maaco paint job and sanded down to original paint using orbital da sander with 120 grit. Took forever. Applied filler on all low and high spots then block sanded. You want to try not to sand down to bare metal. From factory they have an e-coat. basically corrosion prevention. When I was done with the filler I applied an epoxy primer over the filler. Was PPG brand and Bright green yello color. Block sanded with 220. Checked entire car for high/low spots Ive mightve missed. Next I used Eastwood primer surfacer light grey on the entire car. Block sanded with 400. Be more specific in what other info you need. Like surface prep or gun setup etc. Read Read Read. There is a lot to learn.
